Introduction

Sustainable energy is a key priority of the Environment, Sustainability and Energy Forum (ESEF) of the Royal Society of Chemistry and its 2005 report Chemical Science Priorities for Sustainable Energy Solutions in particular highlighted the vital role that chemical sciences will play in delivering sustainable energy technologies.
