Date: /3/4/5/6/ January 2009, Bangalore, India, Asia
Web Site, Contact: h3iisc09@ipc.iisc.ernet.in
Official Information:
Of all the industrially important molecules, hydrogen is arguably the most important. Catalytic hydrogenation reactions represent the most massive man-made chemical reactions. A large number of useful products worth several trillions of dollars are derived directly or indirectly from reactions involving hydrogen. Hydrides and hydrogenation catalysis continue to play extremely important roles in our lives in the 21st century. In addition, hydrogen clearly holds a lot of promise as the fuel of the future. With the rapid depletion of the petroleum reserves around the world, the importance of hydrogen as a fuel has gained great impetus. Therefore, it is highly likely that hydrides, hydrogenation, and hydrogen storage are going to have a major impact in the present times and in future. All of these three topics are closely related to one another and it is befitting to put them together.
This conference is being organized by the Division of Chemical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in celebration of the centenary of the institute. The focus areas of the conference include:
1. Metal Hydrides
2. Metal Dihydrogen Complexes
3. Hydrogenation Catalysis
4. Materials for Hydrogen Storage & Generation
