About the Conference
The Department of Chemistry was started in 1908 by Prof. L. Usher, student of Sir William Ramsay, Nobel Laureate, 1904. The Department was under the Madras Presidency, as a department in Central High School, later was transferred to University of Mysore and then became part of Bangalore University in 1964. Many students who have graduated from this department have carved a niche for themselves as eminent scientists in different spheres of Chemistry and Biochemsitry. The prominent alumni include Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Prof. M.R.S. Rao, Prof. K.J. Rao, Prof. G.K. Surya Prakash, Prof. G.M. Anantharamaiah, Prof. D.N. Sathyanarayan, Prof. V. Nagaraja, Dr. Nrendra Javali, and many more. The conference is being conducted as a one time international event for this specific occasion. The major themes include Chemical Biology, Drug Discovery and Design, Green Chemistry and Asymmetric Synthesis, Materials Electrochemistry, Nano Materials, Organometallics and Coordination Chemistry.
The other objective of the conference is to review the state of the art developments in the major thrust areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The event is further aimed to provide a platform for your scientists and teachers across the country to interact with eminent scientists from India and abroad in the fields of their research interest and share their ideas and develop collaborations.
