The success of drug development depends on the nomination of high quality, low risk candidates for clinical studies.

The pharmaceutical industry aims to reduce both time and costs involved in taking a drug into development by ensuring lead candidates have the right properties to deliver well tolerated, efficacious drugs in a clinical setting. This symposium will highlight the challenges and opportunities in the transfer of a lead candidate to early clinical development.

This symposium will cover the transition from drug discovery into drug development and will draw together the views of key opinion leaders from both fields of research. It is an opportunity to learn the views from pharmaceutical industry on what defines a lead candidate and the pre-clinical process through which compounds must succeed prior to nomination for clinical development.
