The 16th International Symposium on Separation Sciences - New Advancements in Chromatography & Capillary Electromigration Techniques - is aimed at providing a meeting point and discussion forum for scientists and users of chromatography, electrophoresis and related or hyphenated techniques from academia and industry. The scientific program will cover practical and fundamental aspects of these techniques and it will be focused on the following main topics:

A) advances in instrumentation, column technology, and detection methods;

B) multidimensional and hyphenated techniques;

C) theoretical aspects of separation and detection methods;

D) industrial applications; sample preparation; data analysis;

E) life sciences, with particular accent on proteomics, metabolomics and biomarker discovery;

F) clinical, pharmaceutical, environmental and food analysis.

The scientific program will comprise invited lectures by distinguished scientists from Europe and USA, oral communications as parallel sessions, and poster presentations. Rapid podium presentation of posters communications by young scientists and an instrument exhibition displaying the latest instrumental innovations will be included too.

The 16th ISSS is organized by the Interdivisional Group of Separation Sciences of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), under the auspicious of the Central European Group for Separation Science (CEGSS), the European Society for Separation Science (EuSSS), the Division of Analytical Chemistry and the Division of Chemistry for Environment and Cultural Heritage of SCI, and the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
