Official Information:
Back in full force after a two year hiatus, Cambridge Healthtech Institute is, for the 5th time, convening chemists in the life science industry who work in Process Research & Development at all sized companies, from big pharma to start-ups, for a conference on Current Process Chemistry. The back-bone of this two day meeting will be podium talks and poster presentations on case studies of successful routes of synthesis for drug substance/API. The overarching theme, however, will focus on the ways process chemists deal with the challenge of ‘fit to purpose’ process R&D. Is it possible to have a process that is workable for early phase or pre-clinical supply demands that have short timelines, while at the same time planning for more long-term development strategies? Another highlight of the meeting will be examining the recently shifting trend of outsourcing process chemistry. What are best practices for managing partnered chemistry projects, the pros and cons of outsourcing domestically vs. overseas? Should we outsource at all? These questions, as well as additional topical issues, will be addressed through panel and roundtable/breakout discussions that also provide informal ways to meet and learn from colleagues.
Other topics to be covered include:
· Process improvement considerations (commercial profitability vs. scale-up
speed)
· Continuous flow chemistry
· PAT
· Biocatalysis
· Green chemistry
· QbD successes
· Controlling genotoxic impurities in drug products
· Chirality and asymmetric synthesis
· Novel organic synthetic chemistries.
