Official Information:
The annual Analytical Research Forum (ARF) is the premier Analytical Science meeting of the RSC. The meeting is primarily for early-stage analytical science researchers (industrial scientists, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows) to present their latest results in the context of the wider analytical science community.
The programme will feature both poster sessions and lectures, including oral presentations from students, medal winners and international leaders in the field.
Invited speakers have been selected to present research in areas of topical importance and include:
A Random Walk Through Analytical Chemistry
Professor Neil W Barnett
Deakin University, Australia
Micro Total Analytical Systems - Are we there yet
Professor Stephen Haswell
University of Hull, UK
From Hand Waving to Hardware: The Path to Fielded Instrumentation
Dr Raymond P. Mariella Jr
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA
Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy and Possible Applications in
Bioelectrochemistry and Materials Research
Professor Dr Wolfgang Schuhmann
Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany
There is an additional optional workshop:
Analytical Science in the Manchester Interdisciplinary Biocentre (MIB).
There are several Interdisciplinary Research Centres around the world that focus
on quantitative molecular and cell biology of which the MIB is a leading
example.
The first session will consist of a series of talks providing an overview of four key analytical research areas. The second session will comprise a tour around the laboratories so that you can experience the type of facilities required to pursue this cross disciplinary work and to gain practical insight to the work presented in the first session.
