Official Information:
The annual Analytical Research Forum (ARF) is the premier Analytical Science meeting of the RSC. The meeting is primarily for early-stage analytical science researchers (industrial scientists, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows) to present their latest results in the context of the wider analytical science community.
ARF 2012 is aimed at promoting cutting edge research methods applied to the multidisciplinary field of living systems and interfaces. Collaborative work between chemists, physicists, engineers, biologists and mathematicians underpinning successful applications to important clinical, biological and medical questions, will be emphasised. The forum will provide a platform for stimulating talks and discussions between experienced and younger scientists, with the intent of fostering the increasingly important culture of interdisciplinary research.
The programme follows the theme Living Systems and Interfaces and will feature both poster sessions and lectures, including oral presentations from students, medal winners and international leaders in the field.
Additional optional Workshop: Smart and emerging techniques in analytical sciences: Monday 2 July 2012, just prior to the start of ARF12.
The workshop will provide a rare opportunity to explore and understand specialized techniques in which Durham has particular expertise. Applications of ion-beam analyses, solid state NMR, X-ray crystallography under extreme conditions and cavity ring down spectroscopy will be demonstrated by experts..
